Something amazing has come to Amarillo's Rick Husband International Airport. Back in the day, before 9/11, people could walk their loved ones to their gate. They sat in the chairs with them until they boarded their flights. You didn't have to leave your people at the security checkpoint.

On Friday, October 2, something changed at the airport that lets you walk to the gate with your loved one. Gateside PreCheck is now available at Rick Husband International Airport.

I vividly remember walking with my cousins to their gates every time they would visit. We were given that last hour to hang out and talk before they flew off until their next visit. I was much younger back then. The day my best friend moved to another country for a few years, I was thankful to wait with them at their gate, watch them board, and then watch them take off while bawling my eyes out. That extra hour meant everything.

What is Gateside PreCheck?

TSA PreCheck members now have access to the terminal past security even if they aren't flying. If you have completed TSA PreCheck, you get to use the PreCheck lanes to meet your loved ones at their gate. There are a few stipulations, and one of the most important is that you have to apply for your gate pass at least a day before, but no more than 3 days in advance.

Which Airports Offer Gateside PreCheck?

This feature isn't available at every airport. Currently, it is available at 13 different airports in the nation, and Rick Husband is one of them.
