As Amarillo continues to grow, more and more businesses are moving in or expanding. Another new business is making its way into Amarillo, and it's perfect for truckers.

Since Amarillo is right on I-40 and is the only bigger city between Albuquerque and Oklahoma City, we get a lot of travelers and a lot of truckers. Let's face it, that's one of the reasons we got Buc-ee's, and it is strategically placed on the east side of town to catch travelers coming into Amarillo or leaving Amarillo.

Now, Buc-ee's doesn't allow semis on the property, but many park across the street at the visitor center and walk over, while that angers others, and they choose not to patronize the establishment.

Where Wash 42 Plans to Build

According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, a new truck wash called Wash 42 will be built on the Northwest side of Lakeside and I-40. This looks like it is going to the left of Toot'n Toum.

Construction Timeline and Cost

Construction of the building is expected to begin on March 1, 2026, with a finishing date of March 2027. The estimated cost of the project is $6,105,374.

What This Means for Truckers

This new truck wash will give truckers more choices where they can get their truck washed after dropping a load, or just shining it up. There is currently a Blue Beacon Truck Wash on the opposite side of I-40 serving the truck washing needs of those in and traveling through Amarillo.
