Texas is One of the Best States in the Country for Diversity

The dictionary defines diversity as:

1. the state of being diverse; variety.
2. the practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientations, etc.

Diversity isn't just about race.  Diversity includes cultures, education, religions, and even economic status, and that is just a few diversities in our country.

Diversity can mean many things, but the great thing about diversity is it makes our country what it is today. The United States has always been a melting pot of differences, but differences are what makes this country great.  Diversity brings different outlooks and ideas. Diversity can also bring tension, conflicts, and fights.

A new study on diversity shows the best and worst states in the country for diversity.  The study compared all 50 states at the city level and looked at six key diversity

The study found that Texas ranks #2 in the country for diversity.

Diversity in Texas (1=Most Diverse, 25=Avg.):

• 17th – Income Diversity
• 9th – Educational-Attainment Diversity
• 4th – Racial & Ethnic Diversity
• 3rd – Linguistic Diversity
• 27th – Birthplace Diversity
• 2nd – Industry Diversity*
• 20th – Occupational Diversity*
• 26th – Worker-Class Diversity*
• 4th – Household-Size Diversity
• 3rd – Religious Diversity
  *Includes civilian employed population aged 16 and older

California topped the list for the most diverse state in the country, while West Virginia was the least diverse state in the U.S.

According to Wallet Hub, "The U.S. Census Bureau predicts that by 2045 the U.S. will no longer have a single ethnic majority, currently non-Hispanic whites, and will grow increasingly more diverse in the years to follow."

Texas does have its issues and sometimes gets a bad rap, but eventually, we will fix the major issues. The fact is we really do live in a great state.
