Kanye West Chooses Next Single From ‘The Life of Pablo’

In the time since Kanye West released The Life of Pablo, the rap world has received a number of additional high-profile album drops, namely Drake's Views and Chance the Rapper's Coloring Book, but the unconventional rollout and framing of Pablo has resulted in just a lone single release. "Famous," which features Rihanna and Swizz Beatz, was named the album's lead single back in late March, but now West is preparing for a follow-up.

Next week, radio stations will receive both parts of "Father Stretch My Hands," the two tracks becoming one for Pablo's second single. The second part of the song employs Desiigner's smash hit "Panda," so to release it as a single is to capitalize on the chart success of the Brooklyn native's debut, which had at one point reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

There was suspicion that West may be packaging "Father Stretch My Hands" as a single when a Vine was released from the "Panda" video shoot that showed West rapping portions of his verse from the song. West appeared in the official "Panda" video and while many wondered what the additional footage would end up being for, it seems clearer now that it's all a part of Kanye's slow rollout.

Kanye is reportedly working on a tour for the fall and planning a second album titled Turbo Grafx 16 for this year, so his drawn out release schedule would make sense for an artist looking to capture the national spotlight for a solid year running. There isn't any indication as to when (or even if) the "Father Stretch My Hands" video will drop, but news of it becoming a single certainly suggests it is forthcoming.
