Minnesota Vikings Star Helping Texas Flood Relief Efforts
The recent flooding in Texas has had a devastating effect on tens of thousands of people in that area. It also impacted a Minnesota Vikings star.
One of the six people killed in the flash flooding that took place in Palestine, Texas, was a longtime school friend and high school football teammate of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. Giovani Olivas was a wide receiver on Peterson's Palestine High School team, and the two had known each other since elementary school.
To honor the unfortunate passing of his friend, and to help support the community he calls home, Peterson has pledged to give at least $100,000 to help with flood relief and to get the community back on its feet.
Peterson is urging fans to join him and has teamed up with the Salvation Army. By texting "AP28" to 51555, or visiting the Salvation Army website and making a donation, you can help, too!
In addition to his generous donation, Peterson also plans to make a trip down to Palestine, Texas, to check on family and friends and survey the devastation for himself.
More information on Peterson's donation, travel plans and his friend, check out the Minnesota Vikings website.
