Okay I'm seriously confused here.  I thought there was a noise ordinance in Amarillo, but according to the City of Amarillo and the Amarillo Police Department, there is not one.

This all started because I'm having what to me is a serious issue.

Every Monday morning at 7:30am, landscapers show up and mow my across the street neighbors yard.  It's highly annoying and incredibly loud.  Normally, I would just stuff a pillow over my head, but we have a newborn baby and I can't exactly do that to him.

And now, over the past 3 days, another landscaping company has been coming and doing a sprinkler system installation in my neighbors yard.  They start pounding their loud hammers and using their incredibly loud equipment at 8:00am.

Our newborn wakes up every few hours through the night and once this loud noise starts, it keeps him awake, which keeps us awake.

We've slept a total of 3 hours a night each night and I'm getting PO'd.

So I did some research and came across this page that said: "a person can not use equipment or any sound generating device that creates sound beyond a property line at a residence in a residential area between the hours of 10:00pm and 10:00am".

I thought, YES!

Not trying to be "that guy", but for real our newborn needs to sleep and so do we!

So I called City Hall and they had absolutely no idea about a noise ordinance.  I was transferred to the Amarillo Police Department and was told this word for word.

"There is no noise ordinance in Amarillo.  If you would like to call us when the noise is being made, we will come out and talk with them, but that is all we can do."

Awesome...
