Recently Texas made some updates to their laws regarding mountain lions. No, not to the mountain lions themselves, they don't abide by any laws except those of the wild.

In regards to hunting and trapping, the laws in Texas were extremely outdated and officials felt it was well past time to make those changes.

After the meeting, they unanimously voted on several things, one of those regarding hunting and killing mountain lions. They decided to implement a ban on canned hunting of mountain lions, as well as adopt some new rules around trapping.

Now, there is no way to ensure that mountain lions won't be killed in Texas. There is one weapon that is uncontrollable to a certain extent, and that is a vehicle.

That was put on full display when an officer from the Longview Police Department hit a mountain lion with his police cruiser.

Sadly, the mountain lion was put down at the scene due to the extent of the injuries the big cat suffered.

Unfortunately, it's just one of those things that's unavoidable at times, so people understand when it happens.

Until you go and do something like this...

Once the mountain lion had been put down, the officer that hit it decided to lift it and pose with it like it was a trophy kill. NOW you've got a problem.

If you look at the comments on Facebook, you'll see many absolutely sickened and outraged by the officers behavior, and some even point to it being on brand for the police department itself.

Some things just shouldn't happen, and if they do, they definitely shouldn't be posted to a Facebook profile.
