[PHOTOS] The Day that the Texas Panhandle Got an Unusual Dusting
If you don't like the weather here in the Texas Panhandle just wait ten minutes and it will change. That is what I always heard growing up. Now don't always expect it to change for the better.
Sometimes we even get all four seasons in one day. That has been known to happen too. In the Texas Panhandle, we have some crazy weather.
Yesterday's Dust Bowl weather is something I don't remember experiencing before. It was something else. I didn't get out much yesterday anyway. I did go and take the trash out and it was really pretty beautiful. I even opened up several windows in my house to let in some Texas Panhandle fresh air while I was spring cleaning.
By the time I was done cleaning, I am so glad that I had the foresight to close all of those windows otherwise I would be cleaning up a huge mess today. It moved in pretty fast and I watched it from the safety of my home.
Amarillo and the Panhandle saw a huge mess. A lot of people lost power. Traffic lights were out or flashing all over town. They were still on the access road of I40 and Georgia when I was traveling to work before five this morning.
I escaped any real damage. I found it funny that I have a plastic bench on my front porch for Amazon deliveries. I have had several texts in the past from my neighbor about it blowing off the porch while I was out of town. So I decided to anchor it down a bit with a huge planter full of dirt. That was not enough to keep it still in last night's weather. I noticed that when I left for work.
Our city was quick to show off what they were experiencing last night in the Dust Bowl of 2023.
