Prominent Texas Lawyer Found Dead in Lavish $1.6 Million Mansion

A well-known attorney in San Antonio, Texas was shot and killed inside his home on Thursday, say city officials.

Authorities discovered the body of 61-year-old Jerry Hernandez at his home off Cinnamon Oak near Huebner Road. Also found deceased at the scene was his wife, 52-year-old Sonia Hernandez.

Jerry Hernandez's death has been declared a homicide while his wife's is described as suicide. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office released their findings on Aug 22.

The murder-suicide took place on Wednesday morning in the Shavano Park community located 13 miles outside of San Antonio. Officers responded to a call of gunshots heard from inside the luxury 4-bedroom, 5 bathroom residence and marked their arrival at 8 am. The deadly crime of passion had taken place only moments before their arrival.

Hernandez was well-known in the legal community of San Antonio, having been named top personal injury lawyer by S.A. Scene Magazine in 2017.

Hernandez took on high profile cases in the city of San Antonio. One of these was the litigation of the City after a young woman was struck and killed during a police chase on January 26.

It is unknown what the motive was for Sonia Hernandez to shoot her husband, then herself.

The couple is survived by a daughter, who graduated law school in May.
