Texas Department of Public Safety Increases Reward for Information in 1987 Lubbock Murder Case
The Texas Department of Public Safety has increased the reward for information leading to an arrest in the 1987 murder of 13-year-old Veronica Taylor.
Back on Thursday, March 26th, 1987, Taylor's body was found in a field next to FM 1729 in Lubbock County. It was determined that Taylor suffered blunt force trauma.
The only information that has been provided concerning the murder is that Taylor was last seen leaving a relative's apartment the night before she was killed.
A $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest is typically offered on all cases posted on the Texas Rangers' Cold Case website, but now a reward of up to $6,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible. Those who wish to come forward with information can submit an anonymous tip to the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477). Information can also be submitted through the aforementioned Cold Case website or the Missing Persons Hotline at 1-8000-346-3243.
One case from the Cold Case program is featured bi-monthly in attempts to generate new leads and bring attention to older cases. The increased reward in the Veronica Taylor case was made in an attempt to generate these additional tips. This higher reward will only be paid if the tip is submitted before the next case is featured.
Rewards from Texas Crime Stoppers are funded by the Governor's Criminal Justice Division.
