Robbery In Amarillo Leaves One Man Dead

A female was robbed at gunpoint by a white male yesterday at approximately 12:50pm.  The suspect, Justin Abraham, died from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Amarillo Police:

"At 12:50 pm, officers were sent to 2032 Paramount on a personal robbery. A female was robbed at gunpoint by a WM. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle with property belonging to the victim. A detective spotted the suspect vehicle near 3rd and S. McMasters. The detective began to follow the vehicle and eventually a uniform marked patrol car joined the detective. The marked patrol car tried to stop the suspect vehicle, but the suspect refused to stop. The suspect continued fleeing from officers and was driving northbound in the 1800 block of N. Arthur. It was there that the suspect driver displayed a handgun out of the vehicle and fired a round in the direction of the pursuing officers. The suspect vehicle crossed through the intersection of NE 20th and N. Arthur and then veered off the roadway in the 2000 block of N. Arthur. The suspect vehicle struck a house on the west side of the road. Officers approached the suspect and found he was injured with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he later died."

An update was released today by APD.

Preliminary autopsy results reveal the robbery suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The suspect’s name is Justin Abraham, age 23. Next of kin were notified."
