A Huge Gift Makes This Amarillo Project A Reality

It's been awhile since we've gotten an update on the progress of the Rockrose Sports Complex in Amarillo. The massive sports complex complete with football fields, baseball fields, all-purpose areas, a track, and so much more has been the baby of Kids, Inc.

At last check, we were right on the verge of being able to break ground on the project and get the first phase of the project done. I know as a sports parent and coach, I've been anticipating seeing this place built.

I think there was a hope that the funding for the project would be secured in short order, and for awhile it was headed that way. Then like a lot of different projects, it hit a stall and it sat there for quite awhile.

Murmurs of the complex being in danger of not ever getting to the point where it could be built began to surface, but Kids, Inc. held strong and continued to push on completing the project. They had a vision, and they were going to see it through.

What it could do for youth sports in the area, the youth tournaments that could be held there, the amount of money it could ultimately help bring into the city, everything that goes with building a complex like this were all the things they saw.

And I'm so glad they stuck with it. Today, a major gift for the project landed into the hands of Kids, Inc.

They also gave an update on the construction timeline and how things are going at the moment. I'm so excited for this place to open I can hardly contain my excitement.
