When you live in Amarillo, you never really think things like this take place here.  Who'd of thought a traffic stop would have revealed a money laundering operation here in Amarillo?  With 2 major highways running through the city, you shouldn't be to surprised when you hear about things like this.

"On 9-17-13, at 4:45 PM, an APD motorcycle officer stopped a silver 2007 Honda SUV in the 5500 block of IH40 West for a traffic violation. The vehicle had been traveling westbound on IH-40. The officer noted that the driver was nervous, and asked for consent to search the vehicle. The driver consented to the search. A K-9 officer was dispatched to assist. The police dog alerted on the vehicle. The officers then searched the car. Officers located over $200,000 in cash wrapped in plastic, hidden in the dashboard of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was Curtis Gonzales WM age 35 of Amarillo."

Gonzales was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of money laundering over $200,000.
