Several Diamond Rings Stolen From EZ Pawn On 6th
EZ Pawn at 2600 W 6th in Amarillo was the victim of theft, as a man entered with a hammer and began to break the glass cases and help himself to some diamond rings. I'm sure the rings were all pawned as a result of broken marriages, and no were in the pocket of a thief as a result of broken glass. I'm sure some people feel like they've been robbed by EZ Pawn and to them I would say, it's a pawn shop, you're not going to get as much as you would at an auction when you pawn stuff! Don't take a $5,000 ring in expecting to get $5,000!
"On Wednesday January 8th, at approximately 1:45pm, officers were dispatched to the EZ Pawn at 2600 W. 6th on a theft that had just taken place. Officers were advised that a W/M had just stolen several diamond rings and was last seen running from the store. Upon arrival officers learned that the W/M entered store carrying something in his hand. The male looked around for a short time then took a hammer that he was carrying and began breaking the glass out of a display case stealing 16 diamond rings and running out the doors. A spouse of an employee gave chase to the subject but lost him shortly after, however the suspect dropped all the rings and they were recovered and returned to the store. Officers were checking the area for the suspect and noticed a lot of dogs barking in the alley of 400 S Kentucky. One officer began checking trash dumpsters and located the male hiding in one behind 406 S Kentucky. The male was removed from the dumpster, handcuffed and arrested. He is identified as Dennis Charles Carlson W/M 36. Carlson was transported to Potter County Correction Center and booked on a charge Theft over $1,500 less than $20,000, and Criminal Mischief over $500 less than $1,500."
