Often we talk about that place that Amarillo needs to open up. It always comes back to H-E-B and Costco. Hands down those are the two most mentioned places. I don't disagree that it would be great to have those here.

However, I also think we need more places to go for entertainment. We have SOME places we can go, but from an entertainment and different experience standpoint, there aren't a whole lot of places for that.

Cinergy is the go-to, right? All the big fancy, loud games. Bowling, movies, you name it. One of my favorites is Lit Arcade Bar. All the old school video games I grew up playing in those mall arcades back in the day, and now I can do it while having a drink or two.

However, before those video games became a thing, it was all about board games and card games. Families would gather and play each other for supremacy of the household. Friends would throw parties and break out the big tablet of white paper and play Pictionary.

Now, the Amarillo area is getting something that will bring back all those memories, and I can't wait for it.

The Tabletop Tavern Game Cafe is coming to Canyon, and it's going to be one of the coolest things we have in the area. They recently announced the location of where the building will be, and it's at the old Canyon Steak Co. building at 410 15th St, right there on the square.

According to their Indiegogo campaign, they will be offering up hundreds of different board games and card games for you play. You'll be able to sip on local craft beer, house-made lemonade and tea, and if you're feeling a little hungry, they'll have a menu wrapped around their house-made bread.

For a small fee, you'll be able to pull whichever game you wish of their extensive shelf and play it there, or you could opt to "rent" the game and take it home to enjoy with the whole family.

We've reached out to one of the owners of the cafe to find out when we can expect them to open their doors among other things. We'll update you on this exciting place when we hear back! Maybe they'll have a few of these we can delve into.
