Texas Residents That Stormed The Capitol Get Pardons
January 6, 2021 is one of those days that goes down in American history that we aren't exactly proud of, and Texas had a hand in all of it.
No, the state didn't say go riot at the Capitol or anything like that, but there were numerous people who called Texas home that participated in the riots on the hill.
As time went on, those people began to be identified and found. They all ended up going through a trial, and based on what they did at the Capitol, they were sentenced accordingly.
Two men in Bastrop received some stiffer penalties for their role in the riots. Christopher Ray Grider and Rob Minuta were just two of more than 120 Texans that were charged with crimes in the riot.
Grider was sentenced to seven years in prison for helping another rioter break the glass doors to the Speaker's Lobby.
Minuta “aggressively berated and taunted U.S. Capitol police officers” according to an FBI affidavit and received four and a half years behind bars for his role.
Neither man will serve their full sentence however, and are already freed and back in society. That is thanks to President Trump officially taking office.
One of the President's first moves back in the Oval Office was to issue immediate pardons to ALL the people that were charged with, and sentenced, for their role in the Capitol riots...all 1,500+ of them.
Now, this opens up a whole can of worms if you're asking me, but I'm not going to dig into that. As of today, over 120 Texans will no longer have a record of their crimes from that infamous day.
