The days are passing by quickly and Thanksgiving will be here before you know it.  So I began to think about must have recipes and you can't go wrong with homemade cranberry sauce.

When you sit down for Thanksgiving there are a few items that are must haves, like turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce.  Of course, I am all about homemade everything, so when I see someone jiggle out a can of cranberry sauce I cringe.

I think that cranberry sauce from a can looks like a jello in a can.  And nobody wants to eat jello out of a can, right?  So here is a recipe for homemade cranberry sauce.  Once you try this, you'll never want that canned stuff again.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces cranberries
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup orange juice

Directions

In a medium sized saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in the orange juice. Stir in the cranberries and cook until the cranberries start to pop (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and place sauce in a bowl. Cranberry sauce will thicken as it cools.

The recipe is super simple, but it is absolutely delicious.  Enjoy!
