It's a battle that has been fought for generations.  An endless topic of debate, a struggle throughout the history of mankind and the food we humans stuff our stomachs with on Thanksgiving day.  You only have 2 choices, so choose wisely!  What's better, canned cranberry sauce, or homemade cranberry sauce?

Well I don't have all the answers, but I've got opinions for days!  And we'll get to mine later, for now, let's look at the 2 types of cranberry sauces and find the differences.

Canned Cranberry Sauce

Ahhh yes, famous at the table of the Chambers family, right there in the center of the table surrounded by other delicious dishes, you'll find that famous sauce sliced up nicely yet still maintaining it's shaped of the can.  Canned cranberry sauce is jellied and is found on many tables in America on Thanksgiving Day.  It slides right out of the can onto the dish, leaving you free to do whatever you want with it.  Although, in my opinion, it's not really a "sauce" is it?  It's more like jelly or jello.  Either way, there's nothing better then smiley face slices of canned cranberry sauce!  This one comes in as my favorite in the battle of the sauces.  It's delicious, sweetened and compliments my turkey so beautifully, words just can't describe it.

Homemade Cranberry Sauce

So there's always 2 sides to every story and this is the other side.  Homemade cranberry sauce.  Another dish found at my family's Thanksgiving dinners (I go a lot of places so I get to experience the best of both worlds mmmkay).  The homemade version is actually more of a "sauce" in my opinion.  More often then not, it's got that consistency of sauce, not so much jelly.  Still it's delicious, but the downside is it depends on who's making it.  There's so many family recipes floating around that you never know what your going to get when that first taste takes place.  There in lies my problem with the homemade cranberry sauce, it's lack of consistency!  I like ritual and repetition in my life and my habits.

So that's my breakdown of the Battle of the Sauces!  I like the canned kind!  The taste is more consistent and I prefer the more jello like texture it has.  I don't like surprises especially in my food.  So when the option is given, canned or homemade cranberry sauce, you can bet my hand goes to the canned!
