As the new year begins, people begin to make resolutions to make this a better year. I am not good at keeping resolutions so I rarely make any, but this year I am going to try and follow some good advice.
I am a very devout Catholic but I do not force my religion upon anybody else. I feel that there is no right or wrong religion. People are free to practice what they wish. However, I was sitting in mass this Sunday and the message was so moving that I feel like I should share it with you.
The father at my parish uses a lot of his past experiences when delivering the day's message and on Sunday was no different. He was talking about a Bishop that he once knew. And this Bishop always said the same thing after each mass:
"Love yourself, love yourself, love yourself and eat vegetables."
At first it made me chuckle, then as the father continued I the message became clearer and clearer. It doesn't matter if you are fat or skinny or beautiful or ugly, rich or poor as long as you love yourself others will love you too.  If you have a negative image of yourself, others will too. If you can't love everything about yourself why would others.
So this year as you begin making those resolutions, put love yourself at the top. Because once you do, others will do the same. Oh and be sure to eat those veggies!
