Spring is just around the corner and if you are like me you are starting to get the Spring cleaning bug.  So here are a few tips to declutter your home.

Start with your closets and dressers

If you haven't worn it in over a year, you aren't going to wear it.  It's time to get rid of it.  You aren't going to wear it.  Go ahead and throw away those clothes that you keep because you know you will fit in them again one day.  Let's face it, you probably won't and if you do they will be out of style.  Next the shoes, you know which ones need to go.  Let them go in peace.

Next clean out the linen closet

If it has holes or is frayed or you haven't put it on your bed in a year, let it go.   The same goes for towels.  Buy some new ones and use the old ones for cleaning rags. There is no need to keep taking up space in your home just because you might need it one day.

The Kitchen Cleanse

This is a hard one for me because I use everything in my kitchen.  I may not use it regularly but I do use it.  Sometimes I may only use it once a year.  So I guess for this one, start with your spice rack or cabinet.  If you know that it has been in there for over a year. Toss it.  It has lost the ability to flavor and should be replaced.  Next look through your dishes, and if you see chips or cracks, toss them.  While you are at it go through your fridge and clean out any old food and condiments.  Then move to the freezer and toss anything that you cannot identify.  Then venture under the sink, if you still have cleaning products from 5 years ago, toss them and buy new ones.  Their ability to clean is gone.  Once all that is finished it is time to tackle that junk drawer.

Furniture

If you don't use it, then why keep it.  It is just taking up precious space in your living room/den/kitchen/bedroom.  Get rid of it and start fresh.   The sooner the better.

Garage

Has your garage turned into a storage shed.  Wouldn't you love to have a place to put your car again, especially during bad weather?  Just grit your teeth and dig in.  It will take you a while to get through it but once you are finished you'll be thankful that you did it.

So now that you have decluttered, why not make some money on the stuff you don't want anymore.  You know what they say, "one man's trash is another man's treasure."  It's time to reserve a booth space at Amarillo's Largest Garage Sale.
