Albuquerque Police Release Helmet Camera Video Of Shooting [VIDEO]
KRQE got their hands on this video of Albuquerque police officers shooting a suspect. A camping homeless man lost his life in the shooting, the content is pretty extreme. The content of the video is graphic, so watch at your own risk.
In the video, a seemingly submissive suspect is shot by police officers with regular ammunition, then repeatedly shot with non-lethal ammunition. It definitely seems like excessive use of force. Even the mayor of Albuquerque, Richard Berry, says it is "wrong to say the shooting was justified".
**WARNING** This video footage is very extreme and graphic in nature.
Would non-lethal ammunition be more appropriate for police, and would equipping police officers, even of Amarillo, prevent deaths? I'll reference a downtown shooting that caused an uproar with many Amarillo citizens. The shooting of Claudio Trujillo, where many shots were fired by officers ultimately ending in his death. Would non-lethal ammunition have prevented such a death?
