Amarillo – 19 Year Old Male, Randall County Inmate Commits Suicide

Brandon Lee Bellinghausen, of Amarillo, was found dead in his cell Saturday night.  He's a 19 year old male that was in Randall County Jail and he hung himself in a suicide.  An autopsy has already been performed, and it does show that the suicide by hanging was his cause of death.

Amarillo Globe News reports:

Bellinghausen was in a cell by himself because he was involved in a fight with another inmate, but he was not on suicide watch and did not show any suicidal tendencies, said Danny Alexander, a spokesman for the Randall County sheriff’s

Inmates on suicide watch are supervised, checked on every 15 minutes, officers say Bellinghausen did not show any signs of suicide.

A series of questions and signs of out-cry are done on inmates as they are booked.

Even with the autopsy confirming cause of death, the incident is still under investigation.
