TxDot is hitting the highways this afternoon with their snowplows to get all the remaining snow off the medians on highways I-40 & I-27, commuters should expect delays early this afternoon from about 1:30pm till about 3:30-4:00pm!

The plows will get started around 1:30pm today, the "rolling operation" will use up to 10 snow plows at once to remove access snow off I-40 and I-27.

TxDot official, Paul Braun, says; "The repeat operation on I-40 is necessary due to the excessive amounts of snow along the westbound center median, this is a roadway safety operation. By removing the snow from the center median, TxDOT hopes to minimize the chances of melting snow covering traveling lanes on the roadway and freezing overnight, which would cause a dangerous travel situation for motorists, we don’t want day after day of melt, freeze, melt, freeze.”

Braun says the crews will start in the west-bound lanes of I-40 at the interchange (downtown, Hwy 287 split). The trucks will move west to Loop 335 (Soncy Road) and when that pass is finished, the crews will move toward the I-27 split on the interchange and go southbound to Western Street. The crews will then head north-bound back toward the I-40 split and may make another pass over I-40.

Braun anticipates the entire operation to take around 2 hours, and the traffic behind the plows will slow to about 20-30mph, oh yeah, drivers will not be allowed to pass the TxDot vehicles.

Braun said I-40's eastbound lanes will not be affected by the operation at all so you're clear there!

“Motorists may want to find an alternative route this early afternoon,” Braun added to wrap things up, and I would agree with him if I were you.  I'll be stuck at work, so I AIN'T GOT NO WORRIES TUNECHI!
