So you might have read my recent story about the Amarillo Graffiti Ordinance that is about to be passed.  Well, the 2nd vote took place yesterday and, hold your breath, it's been passed!  I'm here with all the details to help you out and save you from being billed by the city of Amarillo so read on!

Today, I talked to Donna Deright, City Secretary, and she informed me that the Building Safety Department will be handling everything with the ordinance.

What will happen is if the city of Amarillo deems your property to be going against the new Graffiti Ordinance, they will contact you by mail.  So if you get any letters from the city of Amarillo, you better open it up and read it!

They did change 1 thing, instead of having 3 days to reply, you will now have 5 days to respond to the letter and inform the city of your plans.

Your choices being, you clean it up yourself, or they clean it for you and just send you a bill.  I have no idea what they will be charging, so I strongly urge you to not be lazy and just do the work yourself.

Look for those letters in the mail, and make sure you respond within 5 days to either verify that you are going to take care of it yourself, or if you would just rather they handle it and bill you.

There is a bright side to all this, Amarillo will definitely look better!  Just some silver lining to the touch of grey.

Good luck everyone!
