Amarillo police officers arrested an Amarillo man after the victim in a sexual assault that occurred 17 years ago came forward.  2 sisters that were both molested by a "family friend" back in 1995.

The victim is just now coming out due to fear.  She and her sister were both threatened to never speak about it, or else the suspect would have allegedly done harm to both of the victims.

APD:

APD detectives began locating and interviewing the victims in these allegations. Detectives advised as they were speaking to family members, they were finally able to identify the suspect by name and an address. The victims stated that after they were able to determine the suspect’s name, they decided to check and see if he was a registered sex offender in which they learned he was. In 2001 the suspect was charged and later convicted of 2 counts of Indecency with a child. After learning this information the two sisters were concerned there might be other victims and decided to come forward and make a police report.

As the investigation continued in this latest incident, APD Detectives were able to corroborate the ladies’ stories and obtained evidence that an offense had indeed occurred in 1995 and filed a case against the suspect, which then led to his arrest.

"The 47th District Attorneys Office reviewed the case and accepted two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child under 14 and warrants were issued for Jon Marcus Vaughn W/M 47 DOB 6-25-62 of Amarillo. On December 31st, 2012, Vaughn was located in the 800 block of Martin Road and arrested on the warrants. He was booked in the Potter County Correction Center where he remains on a $50,000 bond."

A very sick story, and here we are, 17 years later, justice is being served!  I'm so glad these 2 girls found the strength to come forward and finally put this man behind bars!  Lord only knows how many others might have been a victim of this man!  Chalk up 1 more guy off the streets that you don't have to worry about!
