An Amarillo man, 27 year old Ismael Gardea Navarrette, was arrested and charged with "injury to a child" after police learned that he failed to seek medical attention for a toddler who had suffered serious burns.

The boy remains unidentified, but I do know that he is almost 2 years old.

The child was air lifted to the Lubbock Burn Unit yesterday to get treatment for his severe burns.

Amarillo Globe News reports:

Ismael Gardea Navarrette, 27, was charged with the first-degree felony after officers arrested him Wednesday at a home at 204 N. Independence St., police said. Police also arrested Andres Eutimio Sanchez, 22, at the home on an unrelated aggravated assault charge after authorities said he stabbed a 19-year-old man repeatedly at an east Amarillo bar in March.

Sounds like a house full of winners, doesn't it?

The child suffered burns on his face and forehead, his back and his groin area.  He was also experience shortness of breath.

Police are still investigating what exactly caused the burns, but at the time, we do know that Navarette, who is believed to be the boyfriend of the child's mother, was supposed to be supervising the child when the incident took place.

Navarette could face up to 99 years behind bars and up to a $10,000 fine for this charge.

But I say, and eye for an eye!  Let's heat up a metal rod, and proceed to burn him in every place the child suffered burns!

This confuses me, how did the child end up with burns on his groin area?  This story has to run very deep!  As more details come in, I'll be passing those along to you.
