Amarillo Police Arrest 2 In Child Pornography Case
Amarillo Police have arrested 2 citizens in a child pornography investigation that began in March of 2013. Jacob Chism was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail on Tuesday, July 16th. His wife, Michelle Lynn Chism, turned herself in last night and posted bail.
"In March of 2013, APD officers began investigating a report of sex offenses involving a minor. During the investigation, APD Detectives discovered that a young female was the victim of child pornography case. Officers obtained and executed a search warrant on a residence, seizing cell phones, computers and other items. From the evidence seized and through the investigation, APD detectives presented a case to the Randall County DA’s office. On 7-16-13 the DA’s office accepted 14 counts of Promotion of Child Pornography against Jacob Wayne Chism W/M 28 and his wife Michelle Lynn Chism W/F 26. On Tuesday July 16th, Jacob Chism was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail. At this time Michelle Chism has not been located and warrants for her arrest are still outstanding. "7-19-2013 10:45am. Michelle Chism turned herself into Randall County SO last night. She posted bond and is no longer wanted."
In Texas, child pornography charges is that of a second degree felony, which carries a sentence of two to twenty years in a state prison and/or a fine of no more than $10,000. If the child is younger than 14 years of age, however, the charge may be increased to a first degree felony, carrying a sentence of five to 99 years in state prison and/or a fine of no more than $10,000.
