Amarillo Police Make Arrest In First Bank Southwest Robbery

Amarillo police and the FBI teamed up and arrested a man for the bank robbery that took place Monday at the First Bank Southwest on 34th in Amarillo.

Donald Joseph West, 49, was arrested Tuesday night after authorities received a tip that linked him to the robbery.

After a short foot chase, West was in police custody, and is now in Potter County Jail on aggravated robbery, and he also faces possession of controlled substance charges in Randall County.

Amarillo Globe News reports:

West jumped out of the pickup and fled on foot as officers and FBI agents approached the pickup, police said. Officers apprehended and arrested West after a short foot chase, police said.

KISS-FM broke the story when it hit Monday afternoon, no shots were fired in the armed robbery, and there were no injuries.
