Gun Nearly Drawn After Brawl at Amarillo Rec Basketball Game
What is it about the adults in Amarillo when it comes to sports? We've had numerous instances of violence breaking out at random sporting events, and I'm not talking about events like a Sod Poodles game.
It doesn't seem to matter if it's a youth sporting event or an adult one; it seems someone has to catch a complex and start something.

Another Fight At An Amarillo Game
Well, it happened once again—this time, at an adult recreational basketball game being held at Rolling Hill Elementary School.
Let me stress the word recreational here for a second. The definition of recreational is:
"relating to or denoting activity done for enjoyment when one is not working"
"Done for enjoyment" stands out, doesn't it?

Enjoyment Replaced With Chaos And Violence
Now I get it. Tempers can flare when people are being competitive. I'm an athlete, I know all about that. However, never have I gotten to a point where I wanted to take a shot at someone for any reason.
Well, clearly, that wasn't the case here. We don't know what happened to trigger the fight, but we do know that it led to one man being knocked unconscious and two men being arrested.
A Gun Was Almost Involved
During the fight, one man left the gym and went to his car. His purpose? To grab a gun to bring to the fight. There was one thing he didn't account for.
One of the players in the game happened to be an off-duty deputy with the Potter County Sheriff's Office. Not only did he administer care to the person who was knocked unconscious, but he was also able to break up the fight and apprehend the man with the gun.
Charges Now Pending From The Fight
Two men ended up being arrested at the scene for their role in the fight.
The individual who was knocked unconscious was taken to the hospital for care and is also facing pending charges.
