It's the most beautiful time of the year in Amarillo, when the drafts start to pour, and the air is filled with the smell of baseball concessions.

That's right, the Sod Poodles are back in business at HODGETOWN tonight for the home opener, and the weather couldn't have cooperated more if it tried.

All the festivities are planned for the evening as the Springfield Cardinals are in town for Opening Day, even though first pitch is at 7:05 pm.

A fireworks show is planned for after the game, so if you're going to the game, or live nearby, you're in for a nice treat tonight.

There are some rules that you need to pay attention to for this season, as there are some changes to a couple of them. Many of last seasons rules for HODGETOWN are still in place.

Cashless Facility

For those who like to pay cash for everything, you can't do it at HODGETOWN. They moved to a cashless operation, but it doesn't mean you're out of luck if you don't have a debit or credit card.

They have reverse ATM's inside the ballpark where you insert your cash and it shoots out a prepaid debit card loaded with that amount, so no reason to worry.

What Types Of Bags Can I Bring In

Here's a spot where there's been a minor change. The clear bag policy is still in effect, so if you're bringing a bag, make sure everyone can see through it.

The change comes in where they're now allowing the crossbody bags as well as the clear bags. As usual, diaper bags and medical bags are also allowed, but they will be subject to search, so don't try to get sneaky.

What About Food And Drink

Unfortunately, you still can't bring in your own food or drink to the ballpark. You may however bring in an empty bottle to fill with water inside.

There are limitations however as the bottle must have a cap, be empty when you arrive, and not be glass.

First pitch is at 7:05 pm, with gates opening at 5:30 pm for season ticket holders, and 6 pm for all other ticket holders. Let's play ball!
