Early Morning Blue Alert Angers Texans. Can You Silence Them?
Over the course of the last 10 years or so, we've seen a lot of different alerts pop up in Texas. It all started with the Amber Alert to notify us of children that had been abducted. I was all for this alert because I know I'd want the same if it were my kids.
Once that alert proved to be something helpful and get kids back to their families faster, other alerts started coming out. Two of them stand out as more notable ones. One of those being the Silver Alert that let's us know when an elderly person has gone missing.

The other one that proved helpful was the Blue Alert. That one lets us know when an officer has been shot and the suspect is on the loose. It's not one we get very often, but on Friday morning, the entire state of Texas was woken up by one.
Sure, it wasn't ideal, no one wants to be woken up THAT way. However, the reaction to it in the state was absolutely appalling on many levels.
Here's what allegedly happened in case you aren't aware. Memphis Police Chief Rex Plant was shot, and the suspect in the shooting, Seth Altman, was on the run and hadn't been located. The Blue Alert went out just before 5 am CST on Friday morning.
Yes, not the ideal way to wake up, but the amount of people that went off on a tangent in the state was amazing to me. The purpose of these alerts is twofold. One, to let you know authorities need your help. The other?
To let you know there is someone armed and dangerous on the loose.
Is there a way to turn these alerts off on your phones? I'm pretty sure there is a hack of some sort if you were to hit up Google. Meanwhile, if you still feel the need, you can lodge a complaint with the FCC.
