Celebrating Dr. Biffle’s Retirement after 60 Years of Music
It's always nice to acknowledge milestones in the lives of people. Today we recognize the milestone of Dr. George Biffle.
Dr. Biffle is the Director of Music Ministries at Polk Street United Methodist Church and he is retiring after 60 years of teaching and directing.
Dr. Biffle has been huge in the Amarillo Music Community he has not only served the PUMC congregation but he was a music educator. He has taught at Austin Jr. High School and Amarillo High School, at Amarillo College, McMurry Univ., U of Western Alabama, and WTAMU in Canyon, as well as the Director of the Amarillo Symphony Chorus and the Amarillo Civic Chorus. He has been the Director of Music Ministries at Polk Street United Methodist Church since 2012.
Here's a fun fact, he was even a former teacher to Rick Husband.
You are invited to join Polk Street United Methodist Church as they honor Dr. Biffle during their God and Country Service.
The event will take place on Sunday, June 26 at 10:45 am. The service is free.
For more then 50 years Polk Street has featured this one of a kind service open to the public. This special service features incredible music celebrating God's promise and our country's freedom. The service includes a full orchestra and a special message from our pastor. All are welcome as we celebrate God & Country! The service will include a song written by John Wesley Gibson, “Blessed to Be American”, this song was written in honor of George Biffle for his 80th birthday.
After the service, they will be hosting a hot dog and burger lunch in honor of Dr. Biffle's retirement. Although they aren't charging for the lunch they are asking for donations for their Choir and their trip to Carnegie Hall.
