One thing Amarillo seems to lack is big events that come through town. Sure, we get some random conventions, and we just had our first ever Lego convention so things are starting to turn a corner.

However, this honestly might be one of the biggest conventions we've ever seen roll through Amarillo, and it's creating a ton of buzz within the city.

The 45th Annual Christian Women's Convention will be held here in Amarillo and it's going to offer a ton of different things to be a part of.

The convention will be held from March 12-14 at the Temple of Praise at 1900 S. Amarillo Blvd. Bishop John C. Brown will serve as the host pastor.

Each day and night service will offer different speakers, prayer, praise, worship, and more. They expect more than 200 to attend the convention, whereas I could see that number being more than that.

Jurisdictional Supervisor Mother Mary Barnes said, “We have conventions to train, educate, inspire and uplift women for ministry for better homes, better communities and ultimately a better world,”.

On top of all the different services offered, there will be nursing home visits as well as outreach for the homeless population, women with children, and others.

March 13th will bring a keynote speaker, Bishop W.H. Watson III of Lubbock. He is the Jurisdictional Prelate and 2nd Vice Chairman of the Board of Bishops of the Church of God in Christ, and will bring a lot of insight and uplifting with his message.

March 14th will bring a prayer breakfast with tickets costing $30, with the second keynote speaker, Renee Winston taking the podium that evening at 7pm. Winston is very accomplished as a singer and is an international evangelist and shepherdess in the Church of God In Christ.
