After a year long investigation that led to the seizing of 52 animals by Randall County Sheriff's Deputies, Arturo Morales has agreed to surrender the captured creatures to the County.  Was this man animal hoarding?

Seven misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals are still pending against Morales, whom I'm starting to think has a problem with hoarding.  It's nothing official, but it sure seems like he matches the profile of a animal hoarder, and not a herder.

What's the difference?  A herder tends or drives a herd.  A hoarder is a person that hides away things, commonly for future use.  Hoarders are deeply attached to their pets and find it extremely difficult to let the pets go.

In this mans case, I truly feel he suffers from hoarding disorder.  There were animals inside cages that were penned up with dead animals, living animals having to eat dead animals just to stay alive.  Animals escaping from their pens in an effort to seek out food and water.  The living conditions were something that I wouldn't even wish upon my worst of enemies!

Thank God we see a light at the end of this dark tunnel.

With Morales surrendering his custody of the animals and turning them over to the county, they will be able to get the much needed help, and hopefully, so will he.

The Amarillo Humane Society will handle the animals from here, and they will be adopting many of them out, so if you have the room for a few furry or feathery friends, give those guys a shout.
