We all kiss our parents, but is there a point where kissing them on the mouth is inappropriate?

We all grow up kissing our parents on the mouth and eventually it becomes a kiss on the cheek or even just a hug.  Then there are others, like me, who still give their moms kisses on the mouth.  I see nothing wrong with it.  She is my mom and its just a peck.  But does it look weird?

The other day I was at the park and I saw a kid who looked around 11 or 12 years old and he gave his dad a kiss on the mouth.  It really looked weird to me.  Then, I started thinking that I was a hypocrite.  But the more I thought about it, I realized that I haven't kissed my father on the mouth since I was really young.

So what is the difference between mom and dad and why do we grow out of showing affection to our parents?  Take a minute and think about kids.  When they are young their parents are everything to them and they love running up and giving them hugs and kisses.  But as time goes by, they are embarrassed by them.

Picture a middle school child getting dropped off by their mom.  Mom says, 'Have a good day in school!  Gimme a kiss.'

Can you imagine the face on that child.  It is a 'no mom, your embarrassing me' look.

In my opinion, it is society's fault.  People think its wrong because they hear its wrong.  So what are your thoughts?  Do you still still your parents or is it only a hug?
