How To Stay Safe In An Active Shooter Event

Now more than ever, everyone needs to know what to do in case you are involved in an ACTIVE SHOOTER event as you go about your daily lives. The Randall County Sheriff's office has announced they will hold a free, open to the public, course to get as many citizens trained as possible. There is no charge for this training and no advance signup is necessary. All you have to do is be there. They are encouraging you to bring family and friends to help them prepare as well.

The free course is call "CRASE." It stands for "The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events" and is designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy. The course is set up to provide strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills.

The next event will be held on Thursday, February 22nd, from 6:30pm to 8:30 pm at Trinity Fellowship Church's Student Ministry Center, 5000 Hollywood Road here in Amarillo.
