Slack-A-Thon: This 0.5k Run is Perfect for Your Inner Slacker!
Every day, Martha's Home here in Amarillo works hard to support our community, but they also know that sometimes, you just got to slack off! If you've ever wanted to do a 5k, without actually running, or think a half marathon should include some type of sugary incentive, then this 'race' is for you!
Join us for the 2nd annual Slack-A-Thon .5K, benefiting Martha's Home, on Saturday, September 7th at the Shops at Wolflin Square (at I-40 & Georgia). Yeah, you read that right, it says (point) .5K run. That is about 1/3 of a mile! The run includes cold beverage stations, carb-loading checkpoints with donuts, pizza, and other treats. And of course, you'll be awarded the 'proof' you participated in the form of selfies and swag. Plus much more fun to be had in the party zone.
The cost to participate is $30 per slacker. This is the only time we will encourage you to NOT slack. Prices will increase to $40 per slacker on August 26th. CLICK HERE to register in advance right now!
The first 400 people at the event will get a FREE t-shirt and of course, swag bags will be filled with goodies!
About Martha's Home: In a world of poverty where you don’t know when or if you’ll eat again, or where you’ll sleep when darkness falls, Martha’s Home steps in and provides refuge, safety and security, a home for those without one, and a wide range of programs to help women and children in need rebuild their lives and re-enter society as self-sufficient and responsible citizens.
In addition to caring for the daily physical needs of our residents, Martha’s Home offers more than just a handout, we give a hand up. We offer case management, referral services, life necessities, and housing assistance. We encourage women to empower themselves, both emotionally and physically, realizing their unique potential. The women at Martha’s Home are diligently working to further their education, secure full-time employment, and gain personal living skills to become productive members of our community.
