The popular toy chain is closing a lot of it's stores across the United States.

Toys R Us plans to close up to 182 stores as part of it's Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization plan.

There will be Going-Out-Of-Business sales for the locations closing down from February to April.

Despite these stores closing, Toys R Us plans to keep it's other 1600 stores and online shop well stocked.

Locations in Texas that are closing stores in El Paso, Allen, Irving, Lewisville, Dallas, Hurst, and Hulen.

It looks like at the moment, our store here in Amarillo has not been put on the list.

Toy R Us was founded back in 1947 and it's headquarters is in Wayne, New Jersey. The store expanded into a chain which became known for just selling toys. In 1969, Geoffrey the Giraffe became the stores cartoon mascot. The store has over 64,000 employees.

Toy R Us also has it's sister store that sells just baby accessories and clothes. This store is known as Babies R Us. Most Babies R Us are connected to the main store.
