What Could Bring Down A Popular Amarillo Gym?

It isn't like no one has ever heard of Zach's Club. I know several people who have made it their go-to when it comes to fitness. I was shocked when I heard the news that they would be closing.

In case you can't read the small print, I'll lay it out for you. There are two main reasons why they're closing.

Covid And The Economy. Sound Familiar?

One, businesses of all kinds are still dealing with the effects of Covid. They probably will for some time. While some businesses have been able to adjust, others have not been as fortunate.

Two, they state that there are economic factors at play causing them to make this decision. While there are no more details given, it isn't hard to imagine times being tough. They're tough on pretty much everyone right now.

There Is A Little Good News To Go Along With The Bad

The good news for current members of Zach's, is that you won't be without a gym. They worked out an agreement with Amarillo Town Club, according to the announcement. That agreement means that you get to go to Amarillo Town Club, and you get to keep your current rates.

Not a bad deal.

It's sad news, and I wish the owners all the best in future endeavors.

Check Out The Original Names For These Amarillo Streets

It's hard to imagine these well-known Amarillo streets as any other name. Try to imagine giving directions to someone while using their original names. Gets tricky, doesn't it?

The new names (that we currently know them by) came mostly from associates of Henry Luckett, who drew the first map of the area. When this took place exactly, records do not show, but the street name revamp is covered extensively in 'Old Town Amarillo' by Judge John Crudgington, published in the Plains Historical Review in 1957.
