It seems like this time of year we start hearing about businesses closing. The end of the year seems to bring them out. This is the second business in a couple of days to hear they are closing in Canyon.
Fifty years is a long time for a business to be around. It says a lot that a business is able to hold on that long. It means you know your business. It means you really get to know your customers. You get to know your community.
It was earlier this year when I got to stop by and do a review of a new place in Amarillo. Ok, when I am given the task of trying new food I am excited. I mean I am all about food. I don't care what type it is I am in and will try it.
There is always a story that goes with a business that closes its doors. The most recent place to close down had several stories over the years. They just kept on keeping on. Up until now.
This year has had its ups and of course its downs. We have seen new places come to town and even as fast have seen some places shut their doors forever.
Driving down Washington Street the other day I noticed the parking lot at Tri's Marketplace was empty. Not something I expected to see. They had a Grand Opening just back in November of 2020.
I am the first to admit sometimes I miss things. I try not to but it is all part of being human. Now when it comes to food it really surprises me if I don't hear about a new place coming to town.
I will admit in a former life I spent a lot of my time going to the movies. I would take my daughter when she was growing up. We would seem to go every weekend to whatever kid movie was opening up that week. We would grab our popcorn. We had to be there before the previews, because, that is how we picked out the next must sees movies.
