There is a small town about 10 minutes west of Canyon that if you blink, you might miss it. It’s the town on the way to Hereford that makes you drop your speed to 55, although most people don’t.

It's well known for farming and has a community of about 300. The town has a rich German history, and one of the best German sausage dinners is served up yearly at the Catholic church.

The Day Rafter G Closed Its Doors

One of the best gems in Umbarger was the Rafter G restaurant, but they officially closed their doors in August 2021, leaving the small town without a restaurant.

Then Mojos at Rafter G came along, serving up breakfast that included some pretty amazing breakfast burritos.

However, you might have missed this, but the Rafter G building has gotten a new life along with Mojos. Back on January 26, 2026, 44 Pub at Rafter G opened its doors on the east side of the building, serving up lunch and dinner with a full-service bar.

A Proper Pub, Right Off Highway 60

What to Expect at 44 Pub

Looking at their menu, it’s definitely brisket-forward, and what they are serving up makes it hard not to want to try this new spot. From sandwiches to salads to stuffed baked potatoes and BBQ, there’s something for just about everyone. If you check out their social media pages, you’ll see some pretty crafty cocktails.

They are open Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 8 pm and Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 10 pm. They are closed on Sunday. The restaurant is located just off Highway 60 in Umbarger at 25390 Storey St. You can't miss it.

Why This Matters for Umbarger

Umbarger once again has a place to go enjoy lunch or dinner while sipping on a cocktail. Plus, it gives those in the area another reason to take a short drive and try something new.
