Dumas Adds Whataburger to Growing List of New Businesses
We love hearing about our Texas Panhandle towns expanding with business. As much as we love hearing about new businesses opening in Amarillo, we also love to share the celebration with other towns. Dumas has been growing quite a bit with new businesses in 2026, and they aren't stopping. Dumas is about to get a new restaurant in town and will make eating Texas' favorite burger more convenient.
You know you've made it in Texas when you get a Whataburger! Yes, you read that right: Dumas, Texas, will soon have its very own Whataburger.
Where the New Whataburger Will Be Built
According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, a new Whataburger is set to be built at 1200 S. Dumas Ave.

This will be a new build for the city. The building is expected to be 3,305 sq ft. Construction was planned to start at the beginning of September with an expected completion in January 2027. The estimated cost is $2,300,000.
We did reach out to Whataburger for a comment and possibly more information about the new store, but at the time of publishing, they had yet to respond.
