In Amarillo's business world, life ebbs and flows. That’s exactly what happens when one business closes and another one opens, and vice versa. Unfortunately, that’s what’s going on with one local Amarillo restaurant. FAVs made a big announcement on Monday, October 26.

What Did FAVs Announce?

FAVs' owner Luis Escobedo announced on social media that they would close their downtown location at 706 SW 16th Ave. This was FAVs' original location, which opened in January 2018. In April 2023, they opened their second location in the Coulter Forum Shopping Center at 3333 S. Coulter.

It's not a decision we took lightly. I'm very, very sad about it, but I am very excited about the next chapter FAVs has in store.

What Happened at FAVs on October 21?

On Wednesday, October 21, Escobedo said that they had to close both locations for the day because of minimal staffing. He also acknowledged that their service levels were not meeting their expectations. He said that they were currently working on some ways to make the experience better for customers, and that there would be some changes coming. Now we know what those changes will be.

Those changes included closing the downtown location permanently. For those of you who live and work downtown, you will no longer have your favorite wraps, salads, and smoothies around the corner. Yes, it was perfect for the downtown crowd, but sometimes business owners have to make tough decisions.

Where Can You Still Order FAVs?

Although the downtown location is now closed, FAVs is offering ways to make sure those who loved the convenience of the downtown spot can still enjoy their favorites. They offer online ordering and call-in ordering. They are expanding their catering, and soon you will be able to order FAVs through DoorDash.

What Is Next for the Coulter Location?

FAVs also has a mobile food truck for events and has launched a new mocktail bar for bookings as well. They have plans to upgrade the Coulter location to make the customer experience better.

Thank you for your support. We love you, and we are looking forward to the next chapter

Sometimes owners have to make hard calls to help their business grow. This is just one of those decisions. Let's get out there and support an Amarillo business owner. Drop by for lunch this week and add FAVs to your list of favorite restaurants.
