2025 was a year of new business in Amarillo. Back in May 2025, we shared about a new business opening up that is bringing another choice for coffee. The business was expected to open in December, but unfortunately, due to issues out of the owners' control, the date kept getting pushed back.

A business that started in the small city of Paint Rock, Texas, has made its way to the Yellow City.

Where Paint Rock Coffee Co. Started

Tommy Bonner originally opened the first Paint Rock Coffee Co. after traveling from New Braunfels to Lubbock and realizing that there wasn't a place to get coffee and use the restroom after passing through Boerne, Texas. He found an old bank and opened Paint Rock Coffee Co.

It's a fun place to get a cup of coffee. My family and I stopped on our way back home from our San Antonio/Fredericksburg/Boerne summer vacation. It has a nice restroom area with outdoor seating and swings. The staff was kind and helpful with coffee suggestions. The coffee was amazing, and I look forward to visiting Amarillo's location.

According to a Facebook post by the General Manager, Chris, they were set to open Amarillo's Paint Rock Coffee Co. by December 1. Unfortunately, December 1 passed, and Paint Rock wasn't able to open at that time. They were hoping to be open the week of December 15, but that didn't happen either.

Paint Rock Amarillo Soft Opening Information

After issues that caused the opening date to be pushed back, Paint Rock Coffee Co. finally opened for business on January 15. They are hosting a soft opening through January 23. Hours are Monday - Saturday 6 am - 7 pm and Sunday 6 am - 6 pm.

I'm so excited to open Paint Rock Amarillo. I hope our community will fall in love the same way I did - General Manager Chris Sicks

After reading the post, I reached out to the owner, Tommy Bonner, and asked if this indeed was the opening date, and he said, "It's gonna be right around there." Little did he know at the time that it would be about two months later.

Amarillo's Paint Rock Coffee Co. is located at 5901 S. Bell St. You're going to love how they transformed this old Toot'n Totom store into a fun, inviting coffee shop.

I told him that the outside of the building is looking great.

The inside will be even prettier.

Artist JP Perez is responsible for the artwork, as you might have seen on the outside of the building as you drive by.
