Katy Perry Steals Mermaid Idea From Lady Gaga

Is Katy Perry a big copycat?  It appears so.  The popstar is said to be stealing ideas from 'Mother Monster' Lady Gaga.

After much talk about her mermaid alter ego Yuyi, Lady Gaga recently teased the debut in her next video.  Yuyi was introduced to Gaga fans through Twitter earlier this summer.  She even donned mermaid attire for her 'Le Grand Journal' performance.  And just last week Mama Monster told a Taiwanese talk show that Yuyi was in incubation but could possibly be born in her next video.

But hold on, because Katy Perry came and stole the mermaid thunder!  She recently posted a picture, on Twitter, of herself in full mermaid wear, planking.  She's wearing a purple wig with a starfish hairpin, a shimmering aqua-and-pink mermaid tail with a matching bra top. She's surrounded by shiny paper water and a bridge prop in the background.

There is no word on why she is dressed or posing as a mermaid, but what a way to be labeled as a copier! Lady Gaga hasn't commented, but her creative director Laurieann Gipson did.  Just after Perry posted her picture, Gipson Tweeted the following:

"Proud of my artist #1 in the world @Ladygaga her vision& passion. even though they try to steal a tail there's only 1 Mermaid, Swim On!!!"

So what do you think?  Did Katy Perry steal Lady Gaga's grand mermaid idea, or is it merrily a coincident?
