Looking for fun activities for the kids this summer?  The Amarillo Zoo has Zoo Camps all summer long for kids ages 7-12.

Sign your kids up for one camp or multiple camps.

The Amarillo Zoo camps run from 9am-3pm and they do have extended hours available for an additional charge starting at 7:30am and until 5pm.

Cost: $150/week

Extended Care Cost:

Before Care (7:30am-9:00am): $25/wk
After Care (3:00pm-5:00pm): $25/wk
Before & After Care: $50/wk

Team Carnivore
June 11-15
Ages: 10-12
Is your child on Team Carnivore?
Your child will explore the world of carnivores as Zoo Educators lead them on an adventure to see a carnivore eat with no hands or feet. Their journey will continue behind the scenes to learn how our Zoo Keepers take care of our largest and smallest carnivores. Meet some of our meat-eating animal ambassadors up close and discover what helps them survive at the top of the food chain.

Hungry Hungry Herbivore
June 18-22
Ages: 7-9
Veggies are an important part of anyone’s diet!
Did you know even Zoo animals need to eat their veggies? We’ll learn about the animals that LOVE to eat theirs! We’ll feed the Zoo’s biggest herbivores and watch our heaviest and smallest animals get a special treat.

Zoo Keeper in Training
June 25-29
Ages: 10-12
Does your child want to be a Zoo Keeper?
Find out if they’ve got what it takes in this adventure-packed week!
They will explore behind-the-scenes to learn what a Zoo Keeper’s unique chores are. Campers will have a busy morning as we prepare animal meals and treats, diagnose an animal as they view animal x-rays, and even clean exhibits. Leave your best clothes at home and come prepared to get down and dirty at the Zoo!

Animal Grossology
July 2-6
Ages: 7-9
Spend a week learning about the wacky, wild, crazy, yucky and gross biology of the animal kingdom! Campers will have fun learning about these animals where kids will go from EWWW to COOL in this hands on, engrossing week of delight!

 Zoo Vet Camp
July 9-13
Ages: 10-12
Help take care of the Zoo’s animals! Jr. Zoo Vet campers explore the basic vet techniques from making healthy diets, monitoring behavior and performing health checkups. Discover the ins and outs of animal health and learn how our Zoo staff takes care of our animals every day!

Junior ZooKeeper
July 16-20
Ages: 7-9
Join us for this exciting camp where we will discover what it takes to be a zoo keeper. Campers are introduced to zoo keeping and animal nutrition, learn about animals, create enrichment and help tidy up some animal areas. Campers will have an amazing summer experience!

 Fantastic Beasts
July 23-27
Ages: 10-12
Join us for a journey through the magic and myth to discover fantastic beasts from legend and lore and their real life counterparts. Meet Bigfoot, the Abominable Snowman, examine a unicorn horn and more as you discover the word of undiscovered beasts.

ZOOmazing Race
July 30 – August 3
Ages: 7-9
Become world travelers as we learn about animals and cultures from around the globe. Discovery activities, science experiments, and special animal experiences make this a fun way to fill your Zoo passport to discovery.

Comanche Moon (overnight included)
August 6-11
Ages: 10-12
Take a journey back in history and learn about the Comanche and Kiowa that lived in the Texas Panhandle. Explore the legends and listen to the stories of the animals that they encountered. An overnight on Friday night is included in this camp.
Overnight is included with this camp. Camp ends at 9:00am Saturday.
Fee for this camp: $250
