There is a phone scam going on that is racking up huge charges on cell phone bills.  They call it a "One Ring Phone Scam".  A phone call comes in, usually only rings once then the caller hangs up, and it shows up as a missed call on your phone.  You call it back, and you're slapped with international phone call charges.  I mean charges to the tune of $19.95 just for calling, and an additional $9 for every minute you're kept on the phone!  The Better Business Bureau warns of this scam, and gives area codes you should beware of.

The main area codes these calls are coming from are 268, 284, 473, 809, & 876.

A few tips to keep in mind before returning calls from these area codes.  Only return calls to numbers that are familiar to you and have recognizable area codes. If you're unsure, call your directory assistance or long distance operator to check the area code location.

Searching Google will give you some idea where the call came from as well. If the number is outside the US be careful, you most likely don't need to return the missed call unless you know for a fact that it is a safe and known number to you.
