In a recent interview with Marie Claire, Paris Hilton became the latest celebrity to hop on the feminism train, though apparently she didn't read the fine print very thoroughly. The interview ran yesterday (Aug. 14), though it was conducted two days after President Donald Trump was elected in November of last year. In it, she — and the interviewer, Irin Carmon — assert Paris' transformed self. No longer is the star merely a bratty, laughably lounging heiress. She's taken her sex tape, her reality shows, and her endless paparazzi moments and created a multinational business.

"I want people to know that I'm grown-up," Paris said. "I'm a responsible businesswoman. I work very hard. I'm down-to- earth. Nothing has been handed to me."

The line that shocked audiences out of their feminist boots, however, was when Carmon asked Paris about her thoughts on then-candidate Donald Trump. Paris and Trump had long been associated, their relationship stretching back to when Paris' modeling career was managed by his company T Management, and when the Hiltons were friends of the Trumps. Carmon describes Paris' feminism gently as "decidedly vague and apolitical." A less vague description might be "not feminist, because victim-blaming and not understanding the concept of consent doesn't count as feminist in any conceivable way."

"Hilton dismisses the infamous "grab them by the pussy" line. "I've heard guys say the craziest things ever, because I'm always around guys, and I listen to them speak," she says. As for the women who allege that Trump sexually assaulted them, "I think that they are just trying to get attention and get fame," she shrugs, staring out the window."

The Carmon tweeted full excerpts of her discussion with Paris that hadn't made it into the interview, and what's there is even more shocking than what did.

Sorry, Paris — feminism's always great, but only when it's actually feminist. Spend a few hours Googling the words "consent" and "intersectionality" and get back to us.
