Parts of Dalhart Airport Destroyed In Sunday Storms

Severe thunderstorms moved across the Panhandle on Sunday night, bringing very strong winds and heavy rains. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings from the National Weather Service advised that wind gusts could be in excess of 80 mph. One area that was particularly hard hit with the neighborhood surrounding Dalhart Airport. The National Weather Service will most likely survey the damage to determine if it was caused by straight-line winds or a possible tornado. No Tornado Warnings were issued Sunday night, however isolated and short lived tornadoes where a possibility with these storms.
