During a recent binge of the show Sister Wives, I was shocked when the entire family announced one of their stops on a road trip along Route 66. The Browns were going to be making a stop in Amarillo.

The celebrity family were all about stopping at The Big Texan, home of the 72oz steak for season 7 episode 6 in 2014.

Every Route 66 Road Trip Includes The Big Texan

It's one of the biggest attractions along the old Mother Road. The Big Texan has billboards for miles announcing their iconic challenge. People from all over the world have stopped in Amarillo to give it a try.

It shouldn't have been a big surprise, then, that the reality TV stars would call it out by name on their show when listing the various stops they would be making on their spring break vacation.

Not The First Time Celebrities Have Been To The Big Texan

In fact, it's not even the first TV show. We're all familiar with Man v. Food and the episode that was filmed in Amarillo. YouTube celebrities have made a trip to the panhandle just to dominate the challenge on camera.

What made this so interesting, is that this time it wasn't a food critic or competitive eater taking the stage. It was everyday people. They didn't have any specific form or method they were going to use. They just sat down, and tried to tackle that steak.

No, They Didn't Beat The Challenge

I was fully expecting one of the family members that were participating to beat the challenge. It would make for good TV. I was surprised when none of them finished.

Only a small handful of family members attempted the challenge, and from the looks of things, the furthest any of them got was maybe half-way.

Amarillo Just Keeps Popping Up Randomly On Reality TV

Whether its house hunting at an island paradise, or someone taking on Route 66's most infamous food challenge, Amarillo has a way of popping up at the most random moments on TV.

Instead of watching TV for the sake of watching TV, it's now more fun to see just when and how the show will wind up in the Texas panhandle.

The entire Sister Wives spring break saga was pretty entertaining to watch. Especially this moment.

Keep an eye for Amarillo the next time you sit down to watch your favorite show.
